Job Description

Stratospherec are working with a growing fintech company based in Chichester who are looking for a DBA to join their team. 

I'm looking for someone who is an MS SQL DBA at heart and has a strong technical background in another competency, such as ASP.Net, MVC or networking/infrastructure. 
  
Combined with strong technical skills, as a DBA you must be a team player with excellent communication skills and a good business acumen and will ideally have some experience, or certainly demonstrate an aptitude/desire, to develop your career towards a leadership role.

Due to their preference for face-to-face interaction, the role is suited to someone who relishes working within an office environment and, due to the potential for occasional out-of-hours & on-site support, who lives within a reasonable commute from Chichester (Moving to Whiteley/Fareham in Q3 2024).
  


  
Duties & Responsibilities

  
  • Ensure databases & data quality, integrity and security standards are defined, achieved & maintained e.g. PCI, and /or similar accreditations/authorisations.
  • Ensure adherence to software development & lifecycle is defined, implemented and adhered too from requirements definition to deployment & support.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues, finding the root cause and designing, proposing, and implementing solutions
  • Undertaking database performance analysis and tuning
  • Proactively assessing our customer facing service environments to identify potential issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Establishment of and adherence to technology owned service levels, both internally and by 3rd party suppliers
  • Act as a one of the main points of contact for technology opportunities &/or issues.
  • Evaluate & propose/recommend emerging technologies in line with business objectives including the Business justification and ROI activities.


Mandatory Experience

  
  • 3 years minimum experience of managing Database structures and in using MS SQL Server, T-SQL, LINQ, SSIS, AOAG and Microsoft Entity Framework.
  • Hands on experience of the Implementation, improvement of & day-to-day management of Microsoft SQL Server 2019+ Databases.
  • Working in an environment with a focus on data security & integrity for example one or more of the following ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI-DSS, card processing.
  • Hands on experience in Microsoft technologies, ASP, .Net, MVC.
  • Experience in Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory, Networking (MPLS / VPN / DHCP / DNS / WINS), Switching, Routing, Firewalls, IIS, Windows Server 2019, Clustering, VMware (vSphere).
  • Exposure to network and security portals/devices Cisco ASA, Juniper and Alert Logic.
  • Provision of out of hours support on a rota basis (24/7 Helpdesk / Customer support).
  • Experience in business continuity & disaster recovery planning & execution.
  • PowerBI, SSRS.


Optional Experience

  
  • Working with recognised IT methodologies/frameworks, ITIL, Prince, PMP etc.
  • Experience in definition & adoption of best practice to create a customer focused, proactive, integrated Technology delivery and support capability.
  • Grafana, Zabbix, SentryOne
