Job Description

My client is a global software business with an award reputation within the e-Learning software space. They are looking to recruit a PHP Developer to work on their core product development team based in beautiful offices in the heart of Brighton. This is therefore a great opportunity for a PHP developer with a minimum of 2 years commercial experience to join an award winning development team working within the exciting e learning space.

You will be based in the centre of Brighton, close to the sea, shops and a multitude of cafes and restaurants in the heart of Brighton’s busy cultural quarter and this will be a great opportunity to work with a highly collaborative team developing hugely interesting web and mobile applications and training onto cutting edge web technologies and development frameworks.

You should therefore be an experienced Web developer with around 2 years plus commercial experience who has an interest to move into the e learning space and who is interested in developing scalable, flexible, high performance state of the art e-Learning systems and web applications which are used by customers across the globe.

The development team at this company are a social bunch enjoying regular team events. Career development, as well as further training onto new technologies, is actively encouraged.

This role is paying a generous salary and benefits package up to 45K plus bens.

Essential skills

As a PHP Developer you will ideally have skills in the following:

  • A passion for technology and enjoy technical challenges to develop truly innovative solutions
  • Good problem solving ability
  • Excellent understanding of OO PHP
  • Some background in PHP Frameworks, - Laravel, Symfony, Zend etc
  • Good knowledge of JavaScript and JQuery
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex technical issues to fellow team members

In this role you will receive training on the following:

  • Git, Gerrit, Jenkins or similar development pipeline tools.
  • Docker & Microservices.
  • PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
  • Drupal.
